This year, Music On Vinyl is releasing 4 remix EPs from Hooverphonic in collaboration with Sony Music and Alex Callier. Each EP features one Hooverphonic album: 'A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular', 'Blue Wonder Power Milk', 'The Magnificent Tree' and 'Presents Jackie Cane'. Alex Callier has selected the best remixes of their songs for each remix EP. All 4 remix EPs are scheduled for release in 2021, cut at 45 RPM and pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Hooverphonic is a Belgian band formed in October 1995. Although they were originally classified as trip-hop, their sound quickly expanded to the point where they can no longer be described as one genre, but encompass alternative, electronica, electropop, rock and a mixture of others. The band was originally called Hoover, but later changed its name to Hooverphonic when they discovered that the name Hoover was already being used by other bands, and to avoid legal problems with the Hoover label. Since its inception, Hooverphonic has consisted of bassist Alex Callier, guitarist Raymond Geerts, and various vocalists. Geike Arnaert (1997-2008, 2020-present) recently rejoined the band. Hooverphonic represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The band gained international recognition with the recording of Stereophonic's "2Wicky".
