The first single, "Cuckoo," shines in its simplicity: a single drumbeat, a ghostly guitar and a distant organ set the scene for Murray's soprano asking, "I'd like to read your mind / Can you read mine?" Hughes, meanwhile, is content to keep Still Corners' musical secrets a mystery because he doesn't like to explain the songs: "It ruins the mystery."
